Steve Kimbell is Vermont’s leading lobbyist. In a 30 year career in the Statehouse, he has helped shape virtually every piece of major legislation, whether as a top aide to a governor or for KSE clients. His mastery of the Vermont state budget and tax policy are unmatched. He led the lobbying effort for the first-in-the-nation same-sex marriage law and spearheaded the civil union campaign nine years earlier. He is a leading expert on policy around energy, telecommunications, transportation, education and the environment.
Steve was campaign manager and planning director for Vermont Gov. Madeleine Kunin in the mid-1980s, before founding KSE.
He is a native of Illinois with a B.A. from the University of Illinois and J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School. He served on active duty in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1970-72.
